My Principles of Professional Practice

As a professional translator, I adhere to the following principles of professional practice. This demonstrates that I:

treat all information received in the course of my work as confidential.
demonstrate a commitment to carrying on professional development.
respect the ethics and the working practices of my own profession and of other professions.
do not accept or undertake an assignment which, I believe, is beyond my competence and skills.
do everything I can to improve my professional skills and to meet the performance criteria.
develop my performance as a professional translator.
do my best to keep my language skills and cultural knowledge up-to-date.
compile glossaries of terms.
maintain a good relationship with fellow translators and the clients and translation companies.
maintain skills and systems in order to manage translation tasks.
mostly submit translated texts in requested formats.
agree contract details and payments when working in freelance capacity.
make a good working plan in order to manage the task in an effective way and submit it on time.
do my best to build strategies to improve my skills, knowledge and performance.
take advantage of opportunities for carrying on professional improvement such as training courses, self-study and use of published materials.
continually revise my plans and activities in the light of professional progress I achieved.
seek for suitable advise to improve my professional skills.
try to improve my writing skills Which, I believe, shall contribute to my translation skills.
